Someone who knows Strawberry???
#1
I am heading to the berry tomorrow, i think the ice will be fine, has anyone been there lately who can tell me different?
Also, I was wondering about a timeframe as far as the ice up there. Can someone tell me when it usually breaks so we can get on some open water up there?

thanks in advance.

Most years open water is around the end of April first part of May. Usually right after ice off there is a "turnover" where all the nice green algea/moss comes off the bottom and makes it a little tough to fish, but it still can be fun fishing.

fished up at the ladders today (3/21) we had a blast. Landed 15 missed at least that many in about 3 hours of fishing using jigs and minnows. They are very active from sunrise to noon. Fished in 23' and ice was 16". Very easy in the morning to pull the sled no slush by the time we left at 1 it was starting to soften up a bit.

I think 135guy forgot to mention who only caught 4 fish and lost about 10.[sly][Wink] I think this is one of the only times i out fished him, but truth be told he had a dull hook and would have out fished me anyway.Great times at the Berry. Paul
