I'm on the sunny shores of the Gulf of Mexico with GOOD my friend Randy Holder. He's kind enough to drag me along on the occasional venture to Cape San Blas (near Port St. Joe). We love prowling St. Joe Bay for trout, reds, and sharks and all the misc. stuff you usually catch. Don't have much time to write (dinner awaits).... but bottomline, yesterday we hammered the trout. They were hot and lots of ladyfish, catfish, mackeral and stuff. Great fun. We brought home five for dinner. Today, a complete turnaround on the trout, although I caught one gator. So we headed in search of sharks. I brought a ton of bluegill and shad for chum and bait. It didn't take long for the chum to work. We probably caught 20 or 25. Most were small but still great fun... especially the few I caught on a spinning rod. Randy hooked one monster. He stripped drag like crazy. When Randy conched down to stop him, he came off.... we thought. Lo and behold he straightened out a 5/0 Diachi Circle Hook... AND BROKE IT! emoEek It had to be a horse. The biggest we caught was close to a 4-footer.... and that fish was much bigger! (See broken hook photo below). One more day to fish before we had home... life is good and gettin' better every day!
