After weeks of preparation, and months of reading and research I finally got my maiden voyage. My wife gave me the Friday after work fishing pass (so she could shop) so I jumped at the chance. Reached out to my partner in crime but he was a no go so I packed up the tube and took a drive. Went to a little no wake lake in NW Omaha and was ready to go. Pumped up the tube, strapped on the waders, watched a boat launch and took my turn.
All I can say is Holy S#$T, I can't believe I have waited this long to get one of these and use it. Actually it was my old job and no free time but hey. As TD predicted I was frustrated at my rod rack 30sec in to my journey. I was to excited to get on the water and forgot to strap it to the bottom. oops. Other than that my ODC 420 performed like a dream. I am a big dude, and I had all the confidence I needed.
Kicked out to some spots I had not fished since Hard water season and giggled like a teenage boy seeing boobs for the first time! Started tossing crank baits with noting. So I switched to a jig and spinner and got my first fish from a tube. Nothing to brag about other than it being a first. I think I spent more time figuring out how to maneuver and play the wind.
I just want to say thanks to all who answered all my juvenile questions. This style of fishing is so fun, I am glad to leave the bank behind!!
