Think small then go smaller size 18-22 scuds, and small beadheads. watch for hatch and match accordingly. prestention is key there. Those fish are very educated due to the hoards of people who fish.

If you are going to fish right at the boat ramp, you will have to fish small stuff. There is an enormous amount of people that refuse to walk to fish, so keep in mind, the further you walk, the better the fishing is likely to be. My favorite rig for nymphing some of the bigger pools and runs is to rig a size 8 or size 10 ginger bugger on 4x, then run a foot or so of 5x to a soft hackle, or nymph of your choice. You can fish an indicator, or high stick. Its an extremely effective way to go. I fished it not too long ago, and had a great time just chuckin' terrestrials. Cicada's should be fishing pretty well about now as well
