hey ive been hearing lots of people going up to the lakes along the mirror lake highway. i just have one question, how is the river along the road? i usualy fish that everytime i go up there but sometimes the water is too clouded from runoff to catch anything. im just wondering if its fishable right now?

The river looked pretty high on Sunday, from Kamas to Crystal Lake TH that is, I did not see the other side where it goes through the flats.

I actually tried to fly fish it a week ago. It was pretty fast! Only managed one cutt. Couldn't get my fly down fast enough. Pretty clear though.

I like to hike to the lakes from the Crystal Lake TH. The trailhead is by Trial Lake.
Clyde is usually good, I also like the Divide Lakes, and if I have time and energy for the longer hike I like hidden lake.
Find a map with the trails, it is easy to loose the trail when you get past Watson Lake.
Do not expect big fish, all of the lakes mentioned above will have stunted brookies, about 10 inches long with the head being as big as the body.

well i guess im just have to get up there to find out how the fishing is. when i fish the river i use a worm under a bober and a split shot, the extra weight helps keep the worm under the current. i cast the rig up river and let it drift, taking in any slack line. i catch dozens of fish with this technique. i'll report back on monday(if my dad agrees to take me but im sure he will)
