BERRY HOT AFTERNOON!!!
#1
Wow, I have never had an afternoon like we had on Tuesday and I have been fishing the Berry for many years. I talked my friend into taking my grandson who is 9 and is moving to Maryland fishing at Strawberry. I read a report that day about a BFT'er having good luck north of the marina and towards Mud Creek and Chicken Creek. We had non stop action for 4 straight hours!! The first fish we caught was a nice fat rainbow. I never sat down on the boat for 4 hours because we had doubles and triples often.

The fish where really aggressive and we even caught some rainbows and some 15 inch cuts to take home. My grandson reeled in fish, netted fish, drove the boat and rubbed his arms because they were so tired and sore. He had a Smile on his face that will never come off and so did I.

That day was better than I could ever hope for and my Grandson, Carter is hooked for life. I will try to get a couple of pics up with this post tonight. I have a priceless pic of me with my grandson holding a 20 inch cut, and him with a nice rainbow.

Apparently, the berry is now officially turned on. At least for us, from 3pm to 7pm it was amazing. We netted 31 fish and it was a blast.

Were you trolling, baitfishing, or casting lures.

I have been thinking of going up and giving it a go.

I just posted some pictures of our amazing afternoon on the lake.

We were trolling. I saw some guys jigging in Chicken Creek and they were catching fish. They were very loud when they got a hit. Most of the fish were biting at 20 to 25 feet. I had a couple of hits at 15 feet in the middle of the afternoon. We used some crazy stuff. Wedding rings, squids made by Jared Johnson, tube jigs trolled and Kokanee Killers. Those cuts and bows like all the same stuff as the Kokes. We did not troll deep enough or fast enough to get any Kokanee. Next trip.

I can't wait to get back up there. But, as you know the Berry may not give up the fish so easy next time.

I was up there also, we boated 43 cutts. no rainbows. We were jigging tubes. Fished the knolls, strawberry bay, mud creek, and jakes bay. We had to keep moving to locate fish. The weather cooperated for us most of the day, only had to put on the rain gear a couple of times...we got on the water at 6:45 am until about 2:30 pm then a storm came in so we got of the water, and had some lunch. Got back on the water about 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm, before it started raining, so we called it a day. Can't wait to get back up there!!![Smile][Smile][Smile]

White tubes are very popular tipped with worm, chub or anything else you might think of. Also, at times, green, watermelon tubes and rainbow tubes work well. Rapalas and other fish imitators are good. Fish those in the early mornings closer to shore.

You can even drift with worms or other baits and lures. The fun of strawberry is to try different ways and lures.

Good luck!
