Goin' Gorgin' Fri and Sat
#1
Heading out Thurs night for Manilla. Looking for that first koke and a few pups with the possibility of something really big. Any suggestions?? A 5-10 pound pup is worth the trip to me.

I've read everything Ryno has posted and all the other posters who seem to know what they are doing. Hit Cabelas last night and got the RMT stuff, squids, rings, dodgers, tubes, AC plugs, a few J-13s, stuff like that. Got the riggers and the poles. Will probably start around the pipeline and go from there.

I'll pick up the recip license in Manila. Do I need a "day use" permit to launch from the Wyo side or does that just apply to camping on the Wyo side? Don't want to run afoul of the law.... again. Last year I got tagged with a warning for not having a "throwable preserver." Got that taken care of now. Will probably launch from Lucerne anyway.

Hope the weather (wind) cooperates. Rain is okay unless there is lightning about.... in that case I will be secured away in my room at the Villa.

Suggestions, help, or current reports appreciated.

You will need a recreation pass for the entire lake. If you stop anywhere for more than 5 minutes you will need one. They also sell them at the Maverik in Mt. View.

You can get a recreation pass in Manila at either the Flaming Gorge Market or the USFS office, both on Hwy 43, the main road through town. They also sell them at Lucerne Marina. Good luck, Ryno

Thanks for the help. I'll try to look you up halojm. If you are staying on your boat I assume it's either a pontoon or a bigger boat. I'll be in a smallish 17 ft Tracker with 75 horses and a small Johnson troller. I'll be drivin' a red 4 door Ford. Much obliged for the offer of help.
The weather has me a little concerned. Looks like it might be stormy. Hope not. I have been looking for a couple of those rare perfectly calm days on the Gorge.

Thanks again for the info about the use permit. I'll make sure I'm covered.

Beat to ya.

Thursday and Friday look ifish on the weather. Same as last week, but then Saturday and Sunday never had a hint of wind or clouds. I'll be in a 23ft wellcraft walkaround with Rocky Mountain Tackle and other sponsors logos on the boat. Can't miss it. Big 250 Johnson on the tail with a small 8.5 Johnson for a kicker. Ask anyone at the gas pump where I'm at and they can point you in the right direction.
