John and I fished together this morning for some crappie. He is easy to fish with and easy to please. He would go anywhere I wanted to go and was ready to move when I wanted to and ready to quit whenever I wanted to. What a partner! emoThumbsup I wanted to go downriver and fish some places that I haven't fished since spring and see if the fish had begun moving back into those places. Yes and no. Some have and many haven't. We ended up catching 24 crappie. I picked John up at 7:30 at Wolftever and we ran downriver for several minutes. We fished down there about 3 hours and then came back into Island Cove. I wanted to show John some springtime spawning places and he showed me a couple of bass catching places and I was just about ready to take him back to the Wolftever dock when I got a call from a friend who had broken down on the water.

After dropping John and his equipment off at the dock, I then proceeded to run almost back down to the dam area and hooked up a friend and towed him to Booker T. Washington ramp. Then back to Tyner lane to call it a morning. I had fun with John this morning and was glad to find some fresh fish. We have about wore out the fish upriver and I'm ready for something different.

I only took 1 pic and it was a pick of a double that we had. BTW, the fish were caught on BG shads in the crystal shad color on 1/32 oz jigheads. In the best area, the fish were about 5 feet deep in 11 feet of water. I think that we caught 14 of our fish from one little spot. A tiny brushpile that yielded those fish. They were 10 to 10.5 inches long. Not long enough to take a boat ride with me, but they were chunky and in really great shape. The fish are eating well. emoBig emoGeezer
