Sand Hollow 2/14
#1
I just returned from Sand Hollow. Fished there the last 3 days. The weather was perfect and it was awesome to get out on the water. The fishing wasn't red hot, but didn't get skunked by any means. I'd never tried it there in February, so there was a bit of a learning curve for me. All of the fish we caught were in 30-40 feet of water, with 35 feet seeming to be the most consistent. We picked up a few on Senko type baits deadsticking them on the bottom, and the rest were caught on "creature" type baits while drop shotting. Pumpkin was the hot color. No bites on spinner baits, crank baits, etc.
We did see a few fish in as few as 4 feet of water, and quite a few hanging out by the rocks, but couldn't entice any to bite. One of the fish we caught had a crayfish stuck in it's mouth (see attached picture). Hadn't seen that down there before, but I'm guessing by the amount of burrows we saw the population is coming along nicely.
Talked to one guy at the ramp who claimed he pulled in a 7+ lbs Bass on Sunday. I have no way of verifying how big it really was, but he did show me the picture on his camera phone and it was indeed a hog. Good times.
Oh, and I didn't see a single wakeboarder, water skier or jet ski. Just a lots of sunshine and a handful of fisherman. Perfect.

No idea. This was the first time I've seen proof of crayfish in that lake. I've seen what looks like burrows, or holes that they made me suspicious, but, as you can see from the picture, apparently they are there now.

well that is really cool hopefully the experts did it and not the bucket biologist that would be awesome to have a good population of them in that lake!
