Overland Park, Kansas - With CompetiVision™ for tennis players and EagleVision™ for golfers, Bollé has established itself as a leader in sunglasses engineered for the unique demands of certain sporting pursuits. Now, with the introduction of the Bollé Marine Collection, the company is bringing the benefit of activity-specific lens technologies to anglers and other water sports enthusiasts.
The Bollé Marine Collection features two specialized tints - Offshore Blue and Inland Gold - both designed to block vision-blurring blue light wavelengths and to minimize eye fatigue in their unique environments. Standard on all models, polarization reduces glare, and has the added benefit of improving the ability to see below the water's surface. Because glare can also sneak up from behind, the backside of the lenses have an anti-reflective treatment.
All sunglasses in the collection have a hydrophobic coating, which promotes the dispersion of water off of the lens, fights smudging and is impervious to sunscreen and skin oils. And because just about any place there's water, there's also wind - all models feature exclusive Thermogrip® temple tips and nose pads for a very stable, comfortable fit. To ensure the best possible combination of strength, flexibility and minimal weight, all frames are constructed of the purest available nylon, Bolle's proprietary b-88™. For added security, a floating retainer is included.
"There are more than 33.5 million anglers in the United States and their ranks are growing all the time," said Phil Gyori, Vice President of Marketing. "Add in boaters, beach-goers and other marine enthusiasts who find themselves on or near water on a regular basis and it's clear that there is huge potential audience for our new Marine Collection."
Available now at outdoor, general marine, fishing, sailing and related specialty retailers, most sunglasses in the Bollé Marine Collection are priced from $130 to $160 and are offered with either the Inland Gold or Offshore Blue. One model - Shift ($210) - comes with a set of both lenses and is equipped with Optical Control System™, Bolle's exclusive interchangeable lens system. Initially offered in eight individual styles (each with multiple frame colors) the Marine Collection offers models to fit a broad spectrum of fit and aesthetic preferences.
"The Marine Collection gives us a real leadership position in a key niche market," noted Andrew Cohen, Product Manager. "Our growing number of sport-specific models makes a very strong statement about our overall technological capabilities and authenticity."
