got to the lake at 8 this morning and took the boys up by the nuke and tied them both a spoon on figured was the easiest thing for two 9 yr olds to do.. I was surprised my son wanted to fish but his buddy begs me to take him all the time.. We started catching fish right away on the spoons.. I just trolled around keeping on the fish as they jigged the spoons.. We caught some real fat white bass, a drum, a few spots, one crappie, and a bunch of yellow bass, about 25 total fish between all three of us and only lost one spoon which was a feat in it self. Trevor had a huge cat on looked like it was going to pull him in the water but it finally pulled free line was slimed up good.. I started throwing a swimbait and a chatterbait with a chigger craw trailer and caught about 5 bass but no size to them... Hit my lucky dock next and sure enough soon as the beulah jig hit the water the fight was on! Didnt think it was much til he got to the boat and went crazy.. Got the net out was a fat 20" smallie that weighed 4 1/2 lbs. What a beautiful fish.. This dock always has smallies on it just a great place, a few of you who have fished with me know where I am talking about. Last time i was there had one about same size but when i swung him in boat the damn line snapped and he swam off with my jig so i got my revenge today.. After the fishing the boys swam for about a hour and we were going to do the rope swing by harrison bay but with the boat traffic and the steep climb to get up there i couldnt get out of the boat to help so we swam for few more mins and called a day around 2. Surprisingly the boat traffic was not crazy like i thought it would be , there were many boats out but not unbearable by any means.. Going to hit the lower end early tomorrow until about noon then taking the boys to the Lookouts game for the fireworks.. These boys are obsessed with baseball they already talking about our fall league, they just cant get enough emoLaugh
Heres a pic of a fat spot and a white they caught at same time and the HOF smallie
