[#0000ff]The Fish Cat 4 is a good craft and reasonably priced. Unless you are over 200 pounds it should provide a good fishing platform for you. It will hold considerably more weight but heavier tubers are usually happier in larger capacity tubes...like the Fat Cats or ODC 420s.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I now live in Utah but I have lived and fished all up and down the coast...from San Diego to San Francisco. I lived for several years in Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties and have fished Hueneme and Oxnard/Ventura harbors...as well as a lot of the area around Santa Barbara and Goleta. All good spots that have different species throughout the year. Just be sure to check the regulations and have the required safety gear.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We have members in several places around California but most are north or south of you. I am sure that you can "hook up" with some of them once they chime in here...as I am sure they will.[/#0000ff]

Welcome aboard.
When I go to Santa Barbara I see few guys in float tubes
fishing in the harbor by the pier all the time.
I personaly have never float tubed in salt water but I may
try one day, maybe.
I have Super Fat Cat and it works great (Im little on the
bigger side). My friend has Fish Cat 4 (skinny dude) and
likes it just fine.
Hope this helps
Peter

Hey thanks for the input. I'm 6'0 about 205 I sat in the fat cat and the fish cat 4 and for some reason the fish cat 4 felt a lil more comfotable. TubeDude do you think i should go up to the fat cat because of my size? Thanks for any input i'd rather buy the tube im going to like the first time.

[cool][#0000ff]If budget is not a major concern I can almost guarantee you will be happier with the Fat Cat. It has a slightly longer front portion, bigger and better pockets, a better valve and urethane bladder. You can carry more gear out with you comfortably and you have more storage in both the pockets and the space behind the seat.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The way I rationalize something like that is to estimate how many years I will be using it and how many potential trips. Divide the difference in cost by the number of trips and you will see how much more you are spending on an average trip to get the bigger craft. Chances are you spend a lot more on other less essential things on each trip. And aren't you and your enjoyment worth that small amount extra?[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Check eBay. Usually some good deals if you get lucky and the timing is right.[/#0000ff]

I ended up getting the fish cat 4 LCS.
Considering I'm not going to be using it often and don't plan on hooking it up alot. I appreciate all the input. If my buddy want's to take it serious as he says i might give him the fish cat since money's tight for him and upgrade to the fat cat.

My fish finder is in my opinion the perfecty set up. I use three snaps and I can put it on my pontoon or my tube. A lot of times a guy will want to change something after he has used it. I would not change a thing. Like I said for me it is perfect.
I like my rod holder almost as much. I built it for strength for catfish. I have tested it hard. The only thing I did to both was alter the length of the snaps so they rode level and more vertical.
The last one is how it goes on the toon.
Anyway here are some pictures. Ron
