Attached is a picture of a Gerrard rainbow caught out of Lake Pend Oreille a few weeks ago. The fish made a 675 foot run, interrupted only by a few jumps. Since it was the last day of a derby, the fellow who caught it had it officially weighed at Garfield Bay, so the weight is accurate. Look, but don't drool!! Mike

No, it isn't even close, since it is a Gerrard, or Kamloops rainbow. The F & G list Kamloops separately. The current record for a Kamloops is 37 pounds. The whole debate about kamloops versus gerrard vs. other rainbow is a weird one. There are differences, mainly a greater scale count on the kamloops/gerrards. Our kamloops in Pend Oreille came from Kootenay Lake, but they call them gerrards. I have heard people on this site claim they are different, but how can they be? In the 30's, a scientist discovered that there is a difference, but it is caused by the environment, not genetics. That is why you can't move them from Kootenay or Pend Oreille lakes and get huge trout developing in other waters. The fact that they eat kokanee is why they get so huge. Mike

FG, that's an American trout. Don't need an extra license as all us Utahns already have Idaho licenses anyway[laugh].
Sorry Idaho folks but you just have better fishing at least for trout and salmon. Plus your politicians aren't implementing anti-American fishing policies like the idiots down here.
