Otter Creek Ice Conditions?
#1
Hey does anyone know what the ice conditions are at Otter Creek? I'm from Logan and I'm going to make the trip down south with some of my family this weekend but I wanted to check on the ice conditions with this warm weather.

I called down there to the marina and they stated that there was three inches with very soft edges about two feet out. It might grow some ice before the weekend but who knows. Maybe take a plank to avoid the wet edges.

I was down on Saturday 12/4 (11days ago). The ice looked too scary down near the dam on the east side - I did not make an attempt to go out on the ice there. We did go out on the west side about mid lake. The ice had melted and refrozen on top, so it didn't look real good there either. There were however, guys out fishing. I called out and they said there was 5 inches of ice so we walked on out. The edges were not great, but we got out without incident. We found the ice was indeed 5 inches and pretty good hard ice - not as bad as it looked. We called the RV park ahead too and received a report about like the one posted before me in this thread. Sounds like the ice may still be okay. Good luck, hope you find safe ice.

Thanks for the report. No need to go down this weekend. What a change in 11 days.

Thanks for the updates! I guess ice fishing will have to be put on hold another weekend.

Damn, wish I had read your post last night, we drove down today (Thursday) lots of open water , edges were about gone, like you mentioned, would have been a long swim to the good ice. was thinking about asking to fish off the RV dock, but that is away from shore, and a good 8' of open water to the dock [pirate] . there is enough open water to bank fish on the west side by the pooper across from the Eagles Nest, but only had our ice poles. We figured OK, suck it in and went to Fish Lake ha.. absolutely zero ice [:/]. Headed north, stopped in Salina got a wenner at the Maverik and headed home. Oh well winter will be with us for awhile..[Wink] Maybe Scofield tomorrow.
