Flaming Gorge Ice
#1
I am headed out to the Gorge Friday morning, and with the recent temps here in Utah, and the wind of Wyoming.... I was just wondering if anyone had an update on ice conditions (maybe you burbot bashers).
Would like to know how far safe ice (4") extends south, and also maybe what areas have been getting hammered from the bash. Would like to go down towards Holmes Crossing area, but after the floating iceberg incident.... I don;t know if it has gotten cold enough to refreeze that area.
Any info is appreciated!

Also...anyone know if the road to Lost Dog has been plowed,or is passable (it wasn't for us two weeks ago).
Thanks

Im not sure what has happened in the last two days but when I was there it was bad. We watched three trucks get stuck they had the road blocked for about twenty mins, and left big ruts in the snow.

The drifts are pretty bad.

Most anglers are concentrated around Buckboard, Holmes and other easily accessible areas. If you want to catch big fish, go north. This is a banner year for burbot dinks. Get away from the crowds.

Holmes has 4-5" and some floating chunks of ice...haha.
Buckboard has 6-9".
Lost Dog 10-13".

I wouldn't go any further south than Holmes. Unless you are fishing from a boat. The ice looks like Swiss cheese in most of the popular, easy accessible places.

Good luck.
