Deer Creek or Strawberry Fishing?
#1
Anyone want to provide some insight into how good the fishing is at DC or the Berry? Also what is working and where the good spots are? My dad and I are going fishing this weekend and my dad wants to go to Pelican because it's good out there but we're wanting to go somewhere close if possible. We haven't fished Strawberry so any help would be appreciated.

depends on what your going for at DC i have heard the rainbow fishing is hit and miss need to go away from the people i fished soldier creek last thursday and caught 10 in 4 1/2 hours 6rainbows 4cutts. the wife and a bunch of our buddies are headed to pelican tomorrow it is really fun to catch 60+ fish a day even if its just blue gill good luck. oh soldier creek we used glow tubes and cutter bugs pink paddle pugs and green power grubs. the last time i fish DC was 3-4weeks ago and glow cutters work the best for me and i tip all my jigs with meal worms hope that helps

I was up at Strawberry today. I fished the Ladders straight out about 150 yards 20' of water, ice is about 12-15" hope you have a power auger. I used the old stand by, 2" white glow tube gig tipped with a chunk of chub meat. I iced 2 rainbows and 8 slot cuts, lost another 4 at the hole and missed way too many. Good luck this weekend remember get away from the crowds the fish are everywhere. This is why I go on Thursday there were only 2 other cars in the lot.

Thats better than we did. Saw lots of Perch on the aqua-vu early. Had one bite, then they were gone and never came back. Lots of slimers. From twenty feet to bottom. Mostly around thirty feet. My buddy had fun with my vexilar. Without it we probably would have got some skunk on us.
We were the ones furthest out at Island Park with the Eskimo house.

Fished DC on Tues. morning at the Charleston end.I used a ratfinkie tipped with a meal worm below a castmaster and iced 12 Bows between 12-17". Fished from 9-12. All were released to let someone else have some fun.
Good luck wherever you go.
