[font "Times New Roman"]Went to Rockport today, got on the ice around 7 am and headed across the lake. Set up camp and started to catch fish in 10-18 feet of water. We were fishing in 45 feet but the bites and fish were at 10-18. I was using Rat Finkee’s and Cutter bugs. The bite was steady all day till we left at 2 pm. The ice was a solid 10-12 inches. I ran the Rhino and a wheeler with no problem. There is about 4 inches of snow on top of the ice. [/font]

[font "Times New Roman"]We caught plenty of the 10-15 inch rainbows and no perch. I did catch one 18 inch rainbow that was fat as could be with eggs. She was at 10 feet under the ice.[/font]

Sweet fish. I had a similar day at Rockport on Friday. Fish suspended and fat! Rockport has some nice bows!

Where about were you at on the lake if you dont mind saying? I have a possible pending outing up there saturday 2-12.

Are there Cutts in Rockport? While the Big one is very dark in color, the other two sure look Rainbowish to me. I have caught some nice Rainbow out of there several years ago. Good to see there are still some big ones there.

not a bad day. Biggest trout ive seen come out of there. sure would like to find them danged perch in there.

Great Pics! That was one fat fish.
Looks like it was a little chilly, I'm headed up tomorrow and hoping for sun.
Was the Ice really 10-12 inches? I better do my push ups tonight, I'm gonna need some muscles. One hole should be enough. [blush]

second two appear to be cutbows to me as there tail is to forked and the spotting pattern is of set to the rear instead of equally distributed.. and the second fish third picture you can see a faint orange slash which is some times found on the cutbows but some times not..... i could be wrong but that is what it look like to me

[cool][#0000ff]You are probably not familiar with the lake. Virtually no cutt influence...either as pure cutt or cuttbow. And, as has been firmly established in Utah, having a bit of orange on the jaw is absolutely no indicator of cutt heritage. Pure strain bows often have an orange slash.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Tough to make an ID from a photo on the internet. Multiple factors involved. And species from different waters...at different times of the year...can develop color patterns that can be confusing or misleading.[/#0000ff]

your right never fished it!!!! i mean the first fish is more than obvious to be a bow but the second two look an offal lot like the cut-bows around hear.... I've never caught a bow with any orange or pinkish markings on the lower jaw area... but ie only caught rainbows in one place in Utah being causey.... and they had no orange or pink... but your right i am not familiar with the fish in Utah... but hey that first fish he caught sure was a chunk.....

[cool][#0000ff]Anybody should be happy to be able to ice trout that size...from any water...and whatever the species. But, my personal preference is the rainbows. They fight longer and harder than most species of cutts. But some of the hybrids from Henry's will stretch your string and bend your stick pretty good too.[/#0000ff]
