I haven't been there recently but I would imagine that once you cross the canal it will be a muddy mess as this seems to be its condition this time of year. If nobody responds by tomorrow I will go check it out and report back.

[cool][#0000ff]The past couple of years they have maintained the road along the south dike pretty well...right up to the outlet pumps at the SW corner. That's where the water users have to access to control the water. After that it is used mainly by hunters and fishermen and we don't count...so the road is generally somewhere between terrible and impossible...especially after snow melt and frequent rains. But, with a good tracked vehicle (Abrams tank) you should be able to make it to the light pole okay.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I might suggest parking on the north dike...only $3...and hiking the dike until you find some fish. Heard tell there are a few wipers and crappies being taken in that area...and an occasional walleye. This is about the time they usually start cruising the dikes. There are almost always some willing kitties if you hit the weather right[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Fish a small marabou about 4-6 feet under a bobber for the crappies and wipers. Soak a minnow, piece of carp meat or crawler on the bottom for kitties...and even a stray wiper or walleye too.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Fish the bobber rigs close to the rocks. Fish the baits anywhere from close in to as far as you can chuck it. Keep experimenting with new spots and different depths until you find the fish.[/#0000ff]

I made it out there in a 2 wheel drive Corolla. But it rubbed th underside and was filthy. There is a mud pit that can sink a tank but it can be avoided. I am out there A LOT and you can get stuck. Be weary.
