*Someone gave me a free Lure*
#1
I was out fishing and I found these set of pliers, i picked them up and I saw a guy with his kid that I meet a few days back, I returned his pliers and then all the sudden he gives me a super spook Jr top water lure and some glass beads. He also let me try out his spinning reel, which is what I am getting and sat there and talked. I'll be honest getting this lure was as good as catching a fish, I returned something important to a friend and got a lure out of it. They were extremely nice pliers too. That's really cool. Glad you had a idea who it belonged to and offered it back. Getting the lure was just a nice side effect. If that fisherman had it in his tacklebox he probably has caught fish on it and you should give it a chance with a few casts and see...

what i like to do with spooks if they keep missing it is to cast it out and pop it a god 3 times and let it sit for about 10 seconds and then pop it a few times again. bass go crazy for that!

I agree, any time you have a short strike slow down your lure. Every lure is different to work, but you should try different retrieves to see what works that day. You had some good garma working, by giving back those pliers.

Bassman hit the nail on the head. If you do have a fish jump at it and miss while your walking the dog STOP for a second or two and then if he dont hit again just twitch your rod to get one zag out of it and let it sit for a second or 2 again. They almost always come back. A great time to throw one of those is at dusk. The bass really turn onto them around that time.
