met up with Mojo and FG and fished the berry near the ladders. for me it was dead slow and Fishin_gal outfished me, again, for the second time in a row. the fish caught were alot skinnier then SC side of the lake. FG said she had one on that had some real power behinde it. she was using a black rubber legged leech all day long and it proved her well all day. Mojo and FG, a pleasure aws always! the boats are looking good as well!

Still nice sized fish!
I see you put a Merc on. Do you mind my asking what size it is and what it weighs? Thanks.

Why are you upping to a 10? Won't a 10 be heavy enough that you will have to launch from a boat trailer?

I got to ask that as well because he was flying with the 4. Alan's 5 weighs around 57 lb and has an external gas tank, and according to the chart, the 4 with the same 15" shaft weighs the same. It holds .29 gallons where the external is 3.1.
Some thing to look for on smaller motors is "reverse" and "idle"
Advantages to a gas are, the fact that the motor weighs the same as a battery. You can go allot farther and faster with a gas.
Di vantage, when you do turn it off, you have to pull a cord to re-start, and if you want to troll, gas goes way to fast.
Cost is another thing. You will be looking at around 1K and higher, but won't need a charger after each trip.

Boy's and their Toys. Like Tim the tool man Taylor always said..."More Power".
Plus that 10 would make it easier to get up on skis. [laugh]
Now there is a video to make!!!! I can get up on two skis very easy....hummmmmmm
Zach has the official BUBBA BASS BOAT now!

Yes, cost is the main stumbling block. I can't justify it yet, but have considered putting a small 4 stroke on my Renegade. There are some lakes that it would be good to go to more distant locations. Plus, I think it would be a kick to play with!
What size motor shaft do you guys have on yours...15 inch?

I am saving up for a 4. I like the advantage of launching at County boat dock and cruising over to the Hatchery in like 15 minutes, or Launching at Soldier Creek and cruising to the narrows in minutes.
But also, getting off really quick.

of course we would have to have commentary like you hear during a horse race... [sly]
I was just going to add, I was told Nissan is made by Merc...they are identical except the name.
From what I understand Tohatsu makes the Nissans and Mercs below 40 hp.
So basically you have a choice of three brands .... Tohatsus, Nissans, and small Mercs are identical ... just depends on what you can find for sale.
