Hey guys, just moved to Jax. I've been here about a month. I just found this site. I am looking to get into fishing in the area. I have researched a couple spots... I live close to Mill Cove and I have read that it tends to be a nice place to fish.
I see a lot of people going in kayaks. I am trying to get a hold of my dad's "scanoe" with a trolling motor, get it registered, and get it out there. Good idea? Bad idea?
Also, I have no experience doing so, but I would like to go flounder gigging. From the looks of it (I could be wrong) but it looks like I could get out and do it over off of Mayport road near the US Coast guard base. I see people fishing there often, standing in the water. I wonder if that is a place that flounder would be? Or is the water moving to fast?
I need to buy a pole set up that will be good for general fishing in the area. Trying not to specialize in any type of fishing in particular, can anyone give me any suggestions as to what type of pole I should buy, and a couple of rigs to invest in?
I'm from Georgia so I am used to anything with a line and a worm working for what I'm doing. So I'm basically clueless here! Thanks a ton. Look forward to conversing.
and fishing.
