"TD very humbling as we aren't even close to being in the same league as you when it comes to fishing. Very novice fishing folks and learning with each outing."
[cool][#0000ff]To me, our sport is not a contest to see who can outdo everybody else and then brag about it. I am more impressed with sincere students of the sport who always keep an open mind and who seem to learn something new on every trip...and who are kind enough to share their findings with others.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Humble "novices" get a lot more love from me than those who never post because they look down on all the rookies and newbies who only want to steal their "top secret" techniques. These folks seem to overlook the fact that at one time they were the rookies looking for help from others...and they were probably more demanding than polite about asking...and they probably didn't even say thank you when someone did help them.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]In the middle are the bulk of BFT members...who enjoy the heck out of fishing and also enjoy sharing with others...both directions.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]You gals are well respected by myself and others on BFT for your obvious passion for fishing and for your willingness to share all but your most hardwon special secrets. Nothing wrong with that. After all, we all gotta maintain a little mystery...just to keep other folks interested and not taking us for granted. [/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]As I have heard it said about modesty in dressing (just like fishing)...a woman's greatest asset is a man's imagination. Same thing with fishing. We sometimes enjoy a fantastic day on the water (ice) even though we had to really work at it. But it's okay to report as if it was just a routine trip...and let the wannabees envy your success. The flip side is that if the catching was easy you can make it SOUND more difficult than it really is. It's all in the packaging.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]So...no need for false humility. You gals are very good at what you do and don't need to apologize to anybody on this board...for anything except humbling the rest of us who would like to enjoy the success you have earned through a lot of hard effort and careful study. [/#0000ff]

Hey droolz,
Ran into you at UL on Tues. Cool to have a forum like this isn't it? Your Lady was quite the fisherwoman I might ad. Lucky guy.
Still havn't caught a carp on UL even though I live 5 minutes away, weird.
We had a first that night, a crawdad!
The other pic is a prego white bass, she had stretchmarks in her scales, and went back down the ice hole.
If you get a boat, I want to come.
TD, if I ever run into you, A: I wanna shake your hand, B: I will feel like I picked a good spot! Thanks for the recipes I downloaded yesterday, will help the wifey not complain so much if I know how to cook them up tastey!

Great post and thanks for sharing.
As far as the carp go I like to put one through the swim bladder area to help them stay down on the bottom crayfish need to eat to.
Just went and got a new inner tube for my float tube today. may have to get it set up and head out on the next streach of warm weather.
In the short time that I have been here I have learned a ton from you allready.
Thank you.

[cool][#0000ff]That IS a phat mama. But I suspect it might be more than eggs. I filleted quite a few pregnant females yesterday and none of them were anywhere near that fat from the eggs. It will be May before they spawn and their eggs are still small.[/#0000ff]

Hung up my ice fishing gear today. I Took my boat up to Lee's Marine in Hyrum last week to get a water pump and get tuned up for summer. I'll be ready to chase pre-spawn walleye by the end of next week! Bring on the warmer weather!

Hey there! Yea this forum is awesome. Lots of good people sharing their passion. Was good to meet a fellow bft in the flesh. The woman and I enjoyed fishing with you, your kid and your buddy. Him catching that crawdad was awesome. Look forward to future fishing trips.
Also rd. If and when the woman and myself get a tube we will definitely stop by.

You didnt have to put the tube away for very long did you. Great report, great pictures as always. Glad you found some whities, some of them are getting pretty big. By the way was that Babes basket you grabbed...noticed the pink[cool]

[cool][#0000ff]Never did put the tube out in storage. As long as there was some open water I left it "locked and loaded" in my garage. Fished it both in December and January.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Yes, the whities are definitely averaging larger...with some really decent teen inchers. A lot better than the last two years.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The basket noodle is faded orange...not pink. They would know the difference in San Francisco.[/#0000ff]

Hey Yote where you planning for next Friday? I may try it myself that day but long ways away things may change. I hope to try the toon on the bear and see if I can find where the eyes hang out. Hope to at least find a crappie or two to play with. One of these times I'll figure it out. Hope so anyway. Later J

Yes boys and girls you too can learn carp surgery with this simple easy set of photos. Help reduce the population of unwanted species, protect the june suckers and release hidden hostilities. This simple method will teach you all the proper surgical procedure you will need for your next UL adventure[laugh]
I have been doing my share when the opportunity is provided[:p]

He might come off as a Jolly Old Saint nick sort - tossing lures and advice to passersby - but there's a sinister darkside you might be wary of (if you're a Carp! Or look like one!)

Da Big Booms - in Geology we called them P waves and S waves. As for the natural gas emissions - just don't light a match too close or you might launch that tube into space!
Actually heard the certain vibrations can turn fish on (to bite that is!). Good-good-good vibrations! I believe they are 'sounds' that emulate panicked bait fish. Read it in a magazine...

[cool][#0000ff]Now if we can all become familiar with that list it will make reporting so much simpler. We can just post a number between 1 and 100 and be done with it.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Considerate of you to leave out the R and X rated excuses. This IS a family oriented forum.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]About the noises. It is strange how that works sometimes. I had always operated under the philosophy that loud noises repel all species of fish. But I have fished at a few places where the anglers bang on the sides of the boat and seemingly it draws in the fish. But I have also seen fish disappear from the sonar screen when something small drops into the bottom of a boat.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]One trick I have both observed and tried in other states is using a long cane pole to whack the water vigorously. This simulates feeding fish and brings in the predators. But it Utah it will probably get you a citation. Lots of funny rules in these here parts.[/#0000ff]

Save your energy and let em live. Your fruitless slaughter will never make a dent in the carp population. It may in fact provide a less competitive ecosystem that will actually boost their population. Get used to what the lake has to offer and accept it or go somewhere else. I'm tired of all the rotting carcasses in the areas that "fishkillers" frequent. And the flies and polluted shorelines too.

WOW, there are carp lovers out there. TubeDude give those carp hell man! One less carp is a god send to that lake. Utah Lake could use every angler it can get to help out with the desimation of the carp population. Killing carp is not the problem...its the solution!

[cool][#0000ff]Speaking of pollution. You are doing a fine job on our normally peaceful forum. My comments are mostly in jest...even though I do believe in reducing the carp population. But your little diatribe serves absolutely no useful purpose. Hope it made you feel better. [/#0000ff]
