what to fish for
#1
Hello,
I just moved to Idaho and have no fishing experience. The Snake River runs behind my house which is about 8 miles north of Idaho Falls. The river seems very deep here and the current fairly strong. I was curious to know about the depth of the river in this area and what fish I should be trying for. So far I have just been using a spinner and havn't gotten a nibble. Any info is good info.

First, welcome to the site. I am on the other side of the state, and thus can't help you, but I am sure Windriver and others can; you will hear from the "east side" crowd shortly. Let us know how you do. Mike

Try and find dead spots in the current and fish a nightcrawler . sneek up on the bank so you don't spook the fish and you can catch some right on the bank where the water moves slower . You will catch mostly trout . Curt G.

Welcome to BFT and Idaho.

There should probably be mostly trout and maybe smallmouth bass in that section of the river.
