Record Carp!!!
#1
This is my new Record Carp!! Should have weighed it the same day and measured it, cause it seemed to have shrunk sitting in my boat over nightSad
36 length 24 girth and about 25 pounds the next day. After holding my bow in draw for as long as i was, I could of swore it was closer to 40 lbs when I shot it.

Got it from the Snake near Grandview!

Haha no, I'm a terrible shot. That was only my second time ever going out for em. I broke one arrow and slapped my forearm a couple times. Also my shoulders a bit sore. It's the same bow I hunt with and I think it's at 65 lbs. I need a women's bow and set it to like 30! Haha

Are you allowed to chum for carp if your shooting them? Or is there any other method of finding them beside drifting? We just rode up the snake and drifted the bank.

You are better off to keep moving. You'll shoot more drifting than waiting.

Okay, so what do you do with a carp of this size after shooting it? Coyote bait, cut bait for sturgeon fishing, plant it in the garden, eat it or smoke it? I have never gone after this species due to not knowing if they were good to eat or smoke? What do the rest of you do with carp if, or when you catch them?

Thanks, Chuck

Ive heard you can eat them...but takes some work to prepare them...you could use them for fertilizer...I believe fish and game USED to say dont throw them back in the water...just throw them on the bank somewhere...

If you aren't going to take them home for fertilizer or eating, then please dispose of it properly, and don't leave it on the bank. Cut the gills and then the gut. Make sure that you perforate the air sac in the belly area. The carp will then sink and not float to the shore. It will feed the lake ecosystem and won't be offensive to land owners or others that use the lake. Not much smells worse than a bunch of rotting carp!
