Myself and I got out early this morning to do come crappie fishing and myself didn't front end me a single time. I'm proud of him. I fished about 1/2 day and caught 33 crappie, 1 rock bass, and 1 largemouth bass. I found some fish on docks that I have never fished before, so I have filed that back in the memory bank. The only bad thing about that is I'm a slow learner and fast forgetter. emoBigSmile

I caught all the fish including the nice rock bass and the largemouth on crappie jigs. I used both 1/32 and 1/16 oz bobby garland 2" shads in Crystal with tail light and Screamer. I did try a Sunrise early this morning and didn't get a bite on it. Quickly changed to what the fish have been biting lately.

The fish were all deep, deep, deep. Bites were very subtle, hardly noticeable at all. I even had a couple on that there was no indication that they had taken the lure. I just randomly set the hook from time to time when conditions are like they were today and many times I hook up a crappie by surprise. At least, it surprises me. emoBigSmile I did a lot of running from one end of the lake to about mid lake. Fished a lot of new places, scouted some, and generally had a great time. Nice and cool. Water temps early were 82.2 and up to 84.4 by noon when I finished. I'm hoping that by Thursday when Hal and I go fishing that the fish will be turned on a little bit better. We are approaching a better moon phase. emoBigSmile emoGeezer

I kept 4 for dinner tonight and released all the rest. I had about 20% keepers to undersized today. Nothing over 12.5".
