I don't have any personal experience with one but have seen some with that motor that got around fine.

I like the Coleman Scanoe but I have also had one since 1982, I also have a 1997. I use them duck hunting for the most part but have fished out of them in sheltered bays.
A 5hp motor on one of them is great for trolling and getting around. you can also put an electric on it and work around the marina's pretty well.
if you want any info on caring for or repairing them let me know.

cool! I never seen a canoe with a mud motor,awesome!
All you're missing is the bow mount trolling motor and it be perfect!

search (17' coleman canoe bow mount and stern mount) maybe it'll motivate you to look into a bow mount!
