Hi all!
It's just about that time to start fishing the Utah community fishing ponds, and we need your help!!!! Every year, most of the cities with community fishing ponds hosts a 6 week fishing club to kids from the ages of 6-13. Volunteers spend 2-3 hours per week teaching kids the basics of how to cast, tie knots, etc. Without volunteers to help teach these clubs, the clubs don't operate. Getting youth outdoors and into sports such as fishing, is a huge priority to me, and I'd like you to join me in the race against time.
It's only a matter of time before children have no idea how to bait a hook, catch a fish, get muddy, and seek the outdoors for relaxation. Join me in fighting this!
You can help by doing the following 3 things:
1.) Attend a volunteer training in a city near you, or in a city your interested in helping out. The schedule for these training can be found at the website below:

Please contact the city coordinator and let them know you are interested and will be attending.
2.) Complete a Division of Wildlife Resources authorized background check. This is required for anyone working in this program with children under the age of 18 years old.
3.) Volunteer 2-3 hours/week for 6 weeks. Again, dates can be found on the community fishing page on the DWR website.
Dedicated Hunters
If you are in the dedicated hunter program, hours volunteered will apply. If you are not in the program, we will start taking applications on Feb. 1-March 4, 2013. More info on the program can be found at this website:
http://wildlife.utah.gov/...dicated-hunters.html
If you are in the program, you can earn up to 20 hours (depends on when and how often you volunteer) towards your needed hours. IF you have questions about hours, please contact me.
Thanks again for all your help in advance, and I look forward to meeting and working with you all soon! Please contact me at the info provided below if you have any questions!

P.s. I am asking for help in this posting and not looking to stir up any issues or stir any pots. If you have problems or issues with the program or DWR, please just contact me. I feel online forums can sometimes turn into venting sessions, and bashing pits. I'm just asking for help. This program means the world to me, and if you know me, you know how much I care. Help me help the children!! Thanks again!
