So after last weekend and the success we had with perch i decided to take a first timer up there with high hopes of finding the fish. We were not disappointed. I drilled about 20+ holes before we found the mother load they were about 30 yards north of last weeks hotspot. 92 was the total count before we left for the day. 49.5 FOW and chartreuse or white as long as it had some kind of glow to it and grub or eyes. fish staked from 38-49.4 feet.

Wow, you know how to find perch. I was thinking of taking (by force, [laugh]) my wife up there this next week, but I am not nearly confident enough in my ability to find the perch.
Any tips on finding them? Sounds like you have to drill a lot of holes.
Any hints on the general location you were at? PM? [angelic]

I located them on the 5th hole. Just got to be lucky or good. Not sure which it was with me. The ice was 18 inches thick or more where we fished. Better have a strong arm and good sharp knifes on your auger if it is a hand job. I was great-full I had a power auger.

Had a awesome day at Starvy too, didn't win the win the fishin derby but in my efforts to find a school of large trout I found a school of jumbo perch. These perch are like no other perch I have caught there before. I caught ten of them in 50ft of water and they were all 10 to 12 inches and very hardy. The best part of it all not one person fished out there and don't realize that there is a ridge and good structure for big trout and apparently in the winter large perch.

Nice video man, that is actually really cool. I've never used a nice sonar unit before, nor have I seen how one works. That's pretty ridiculous.

if you own a GPS here are the cord. now this is just a starting point for you not 100% guaranteed.
Last week they were 2 feet shallower than sat and about 30 yards apart. the reason I drilled so many holes.
40deg 10'09.80n
110deg 26'56.10w
work that in an area looking for what the finder shows fish and hold on.

Thanks!
That sonar system you have is awesome! How much did that cost you? I was looking at them the other day at Scheels and they were PRI-CEY!

I guess I need to work on my gps skills.
I went to those coordinates and the only thing I could possibly catch is a wayward jack rabbit.

You need to know what Datum he is using. WGS84, NAD27, etc. a different Datum can give you readings many thousands of metres off.
I say the fish are where you find them. Just have him tell you where he was in reference to the Highway 40 bridge if he was in that area. You should be able to find his holes.
Some of our gang is going tomorrow and we'll be in the general vicinity. Good luck.

I will look for you also and say Hi.
You will know it is me if you follow a guy drilling holes with a 4" auger.
Thanks for the info, Shane
