The wife and I wandered through your booth. Thanks for having it. I'm pretty sure you were the only fishing-related booth there.

I went down in the hopes of checking out a few guides/lodges/trips. There were only two of those, and both were...well, not the first team.

Not a single non-powerboat dealer that I saw. Not one canoe or kayak. Not one sailboat. Just a bazillion high-speed wakemakers with 300-hp motors and 1000-watt sound systems. Gag.

Yes, Kokanee Creek tackle, his banner is right above this post.
onlychild- Good to hear Mike did good on showing off your new Walleyes series blades. Sounds like a smart idea, being the only tackle Co at a boat show.[Wink]

Thanks wiper, I figured that was the booth as I stopped by and talked to mike for awhile, stellar guy. Got to meet art too.

There will be 1,000 guides/lodges at the ISE show. I'm with you though, the last few years its been nothing but wake boats and they have pretty well forgot about the fishermen. I did notice barber bros came this year so that Fred's marine wasn't the only tracker dealer. A few lunds, smokercrafts, alumacrafts, and the like but not many. We stopped off and looked at the striper that dicks marine brought but I was disappointed not to see any others like it. What happened to c-dory, trophy, robalo, Boston whaler, Grady white, century...guess we will have to go to washingtons boat show for those. Not enough interest around here I suppose. You bring up an interesting point about canoes and kayaks. They are becoming really popular for fishing. Why not put those in the boat show? Why not any drift boats? How about a section of small aluminum boats, flat bottoms and v-hulls? I see a ton of them on the lake, why not the boat show? How about some more tackle companies. Sportsmans, cabelas, I'm pretty sure they can afford a booth.

I understand that wakeboard boats and ski boats are a large part of utah boating, it just seems like there is a majority that is trying to slowly push the fisherman out of existence. I know we all have a story or several of ski boats coming way too close while we are fishing at a wake less speed.

Rant over.

with current legislation, who in their right mind would dare to purchase a canoe or drift boat?? Our politicians are trying very hard to restrict access to those types of boats!! No wonder there weren't any at the show!

Nobody mentioned Ranger boats. I'm pretty sure Robertson's was at the show. But they sell REAL fishing boats (Crestliner, Ranger), so I imagine most of you guys passed them by and went on to see the Lunds and Trackers....

I will take my Lund over a Crestliner any day. But then, I would take a VS Ranger over my lund if I could afford it. Some day....Fishon

I do love me the Ranger walk throughs! I stopped by and looked at the rangers they had brought, just a little too "sparkly" for my taste. Give me a Grady over a Ranger every day of the week and twice on Sunday!

Good call though, I did forget to mention they were there.

Art, thank you for including me in your booth. I really enjoyed helping out and getting to meet so many of you fishermen/ladies out there.

Me helping you out was a selfish move on my part! I have never been able to limit on kokes at Strawberry much less help other people catch their first koke until you gave me a few of your goodies to try.

I will make the following proposal:
I will help at the ISE show in exchange for two red Hotheads and two crawler harnesses, deal?

I work at a local boat company MP and we were at the boat show and we had 8 Alumacrafts ranging from 14 foot tillers to 20ft 250 hp boats. As well as having 4 Premier pontoon boats from 18 feet to 26 feet. Unfortunately with limited space available it is difficult to bring everything that is in our inventory and everything that is offered by the manufactures. So we try to bring what we think is the best options for the market. With Jons and utility boats they do not change much from year to year. [Wink]The funny thing about the show is no matter how much we take to the show people always want to see what we left at the store????[Wink]

I went because I had heard a rumor that there is now a Hobie dealer in Utah. Alas, nada. The nearest two dealers I can locate are in Twin Falls and somewhere near Lake Mead.

The Hobie line would be a money-maker for some Utah boat dealer, I'm sure. Hint.

Not having space makes sense. I can see only having enough space to warrant bringing what is popular for business.

The way I see it, no matter what you bring someone will be unhappy. Thanks for doing the show, it was still fun!
