Busy with Bonitos
#1
The Lady Pamela IV was out this morning trolling the outer reef edge north of Port Everglades Inlet in search of toothy predators. Captain Darin kept the charter busy with bonitos and blackfin tunas crashing seawitch feathers. They also caught a couple of 20 lb kingfish, and then it was time move offshore with fresh bonito as bait for sharks. It took two bait sets in 350 feet of water before the big bite. It turned out to be a 6ft sandbar shark that put up a nice little fight as it was reeled to the boat, photographed, and released. These sharks are easily recognized because they have a tall dorsal fin.
