Hello and Any Advice?
#1
Hello everyone! I'm new to the forum, however, I have been a daily reader for quite some time now [Wink].

This past weekend I participated in the derby at the Gorge with my father and grandfather. It was cold and at least for us, the fishing was terrible. We started Saturday at 7 am, caught a koke within 10 minutes of dropping our lines, and left the water at 6 pm without another bite. Same story, different part of the lake, and only slightly better weather Sunday (except we left early to try and win some prizes of course). Last year we limited out everyday on Kokanee, just no such luck this year.

I am headed to knolls this weekend with some friends and we figured we'd give Blue Lake a try with the pontoons. None of us have ever been there but I have to get that bad taste out of my mouth from last weekend. Any tips for a newbie would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks for the report and welcome to BFT. At least you got out and made some memories with your dad and g-dad.

At Blue Lake don't leave anything you value in your cars.

It was definitely a memorable trip. A terrible day fishing is better than ANYDAY at the office!

I've been hearing about the break ins at Blue Lake and I'm trying to decide if I should even go out. I just recently bought my truck and I'd really hate to have my window busted out. How often does this happen?

[#0000FF]Not as much of a problem recently as in times past. But you should always watch your vehicle. If you walk over to the main (big) lake you risk being out of sight of your vehicle long enough for things to happen. But if you fish the smaller ponds near the main road you can pull right up and fish beside your vehicle. That's where the most tilapia are anyway...although they can be a lot bigger in the main lake. Also more larger bass and bluegill in the big lake.
