When it stayed cloudy & bearably hot, decided to get out & dodge the pros for a bit. Put in about 9:30 & headed toward a river drop between 4 wrapped boats. Decided that must be a good area with that many pros on it. Found a rough spot on it & had 2 good fish, both near 4#, both on shakey head. After I caught the 2nd one, everybody started getting close so headed down. Went to a slough that I had found last week riding around that had a clump of grass growing in 6-8'. Threw a big worm in it & caught a nice 16" fish. Didn't check my line & broke of a fish on the next cast. Caught 7 on this spot in about 20 min. My wife called to come meet me, so went to pick her up & hauled water on a drop before the storm moved our way. Spent the next 2 hrs. at Ari's eating a burger & downin iced tea. Went back out to the grass clump & caught a 5.5#. Big head but this girl had been on Jenny Craig! If she'd had any weight on her would have been 7+. Ran into Wes Strader before we went in. What a nice guy. Hope he does great this weekend! He's right on the bubble to make the FW Cup.
