As we left the dock we headed out to the Shark groundslocated south of Fort Lauderdale FL in 350 ft. of water. We put 3Shark baits out, one on the surface, one midrange and one on the bottom, alongwith a kite with two live Goggle Eyes. While the brothers were talking football, our bottom rod bent over –hooked up!!!! – for a short time, as the hooks pulled. Well, we will get the next one. We set up again - this time the black shadowappeared on the long kite bait. Bill anddorsal fin out of the water as the Sailfish chased the bait frantically – thefight was on as Si jumped into the fighting chair and started to dobattle. The sun was shinning down on theSailfish showing his magnificent neon colors. The Sailfish tail-walked towards the boat at tremendous speed. Twenty minutes later, the 94” Sailfish wasbrought to the boat. What a spectacularshow the Sailfish put on. As time wasrunning out, Si said, “Once is not enough – Let’s do it again tomorrow”, so thefollowing day off we went again.

We started trolling and Melissa, our angler, caught a coupleof Barracudas. We went back to the Sharkgrounds again with the same setup. Ourdeep line bent over as line screamed off the reel; then it went slack. Pulled hook!!! We reset again and this time the dorsal finappeared on the surface Shark bait. TheShark grabbed the bait and we were hooked up. Melissa hopped into the fighting chair to do battle with the Shark, while Si remarked that this is the battle between the beauty and thebeast. Thirty-five minutes later Melissabrought the Hammerhead Shark to the boat measuring 93”. Pictures were taken and the Shark wasreleased unharmed to do battle again.
