So I taught my little brother how to fly fish for the first time ever! We went to the middle provo by jordanelle dam and he had a ton of fun! We were there for about 3 hours from 5 pm to 8 pm. A small PMD hatch was happening so I rigged up his new rod and did a dry dropper system. On top a size 14 PMD and under the surface a pheasant tail nymph. He fished that rig for about two hours and got a couple of bites on the PMD but he couldn't seem to hook them. Them after about an hour and 30 he finally got a hit on his pheasant while he wasn't even looking!! So I yelled, pull up! He pulled up pretty good and he stripped in a pretty 8 in brown. Nothing too big but it was his first fish on the fly! He was so stoked. After about 30 we put on just a single elk hair caddis. Didn't land any and for all I know I'm not sure how many hits he got cause that's when I started fishing. I caught 3 on dry drop system with elk hair on top and hairs ears on bottom. 2 on HE and one on EHC. It started getting dark and cold for my brother (he had leaky waders) so we decided to go home. I'm taking him to the middle again this monday and was wondering if I should do something differently. Maybe nymph or antyhing that would hook him into a lot more trout? A different time? Thanks
