spinnerbaits
#1
Does anybody have any tips on throwing spinner baits? I have a few of the "normal" size and a small one, and a few buzzbaits, I have NEVER even gotten a bite on one, if somebody would give me some tips on how to fish it that would be nice! Thanks in advance!

Spinnerbaits can be a fantastic search bait. Head to the lake on a windy day (windy+spinnerbait=success). Start covering water and cast that spinnerbait at every piece of cover you see; rocks, trees, bushes, ledges, etc. Don't stop casting! Don't even bring another bait to the lake with you. Just your spinnerbait box.

Vary your retrieve. It's warm out, so fish fairly fast, but random pauses, jerks and sweeps are a necessary part of every cast. Make that skirt dance.

Add a trailer hook. You get lots of short strikes with a spinnerbait, and trailer hooks are very important. Don't worry about adding a plastic trailer.

Keep it simple.

And don't give up.

Do you use larger sized ones? And right now I shore fish, I fish kingman wash and dogreat with stripers around 10, I do see a decent amounts of lmb, but can get them to bite, I will be looking into getting a kayak or floattube in the next few weeks tho.

You are the opposite of me. I mostly use spinners to catch lmb. Like whizzle suggested cast, cast and cast. Also, don't be afraid at bumping that spinner into the cover as well. Most of the lmb that I have caught have been when I have bump the spinner off of some type of cover.

I use a baitcaster for my spinbaits and have had success. They're a pain to learn at first but once you get used to it, they work so well.
