Salem Pond Bluegill

Took a quick trip to Salem Pond last night with my son and we pulled in this two pound Bluegill. This is my first time trying to post a picture so I hope it works.

Nice catch.....considering the Utah record is 2 pounds 7 oz. Although that fish was only 11 1/2" long , it had a girth of 14 5/8"! [shocked]

Yeah, this fish was 11" but "only" had a girth of 11". Kind of like me the same around as I am tall.[]

Yes he did. I caught him on my fly rod so it made it that much more fun.

A beast of a gill! There is some big fish mixed in with all the planters in there. It's a random little pond.

Dang that's a great bull 'gill! Something about those things are so appealing. They're like brook trout. So annoying when they're small, but so very, very special and rare when they're oversized. Fine catch!

This guy is huge! I didn't know salem pond had big bluegill in it. Great catch. I love catching big bluegills on a fly rod! Makes it even better when your fishing with your kids and they are catching fish. I bet they loved it and wanna get back out their!

He didn't catch it but he was with me and helped pull it up out of the water. As you can see he was still pretty excited about it. The little guy in right side of the picture is my fishing buddy and asks me to take him fishing every day. It is fun to take the kids fishing.
