Favorite fly when fishing local ponds?
#1
Mine is Pistol Pete in any color but I start with black. AND a size 12 pheasant tail when they are rising to emergers AND a griffiths gnat when they are hitting on top.

Tell us what yours is.

PS I use a fly and a bubble when fishing local ponds because of what the dirt does to my line and guides.

I don't fish a spinning and bubble, I just wash my line when I get home.

Has anybody used one of the stripping baskets that belt on your waste?

I didn't write the part about using a stripping basket on your waist. Is that a question you want to ask MBM?

I use small leach patterns under an indicator on ponds.
Size 12 and 10 in brown, black or olive colors.
They work very well on ponds up north and all the way down to Saint Gorge.

What is the best depth? Or do you just work it from top to bottom?

Just as you said, I start at about 3' and move it down as needed.
Watching the surface action will give me a good idea of how deep the fish are.

I tried a leech under an indicator at an unnamed lake and it worked thanks for the idea.

It's up past Strawberry and everyone gets real mad if you post the name. I am just respecting the request of my friend not to divulge the location.

The old, "Out of sight (reading sight) out of mind". Great idea not mentioning everywhere. Even Strawberry will never be the same.[:/]
