Fished Scofield today with a fellow BFT member. We fished the dam arm. Catching was fast early and was steady most of the day until we left at 2:30 PM. The largest fish we caught were around 18-19 inches. All fish were cutts with a few small rainbows thrown in. Surprised to not catch any tiger trout.
We caught them on just about everything from tubes tipped with cut bait to jigs tipped with meal worms, waxies, night crawlers and butter worms.
The wind started blowing hard and then a blizzard moved in. That was when I hiked up the hill and grabbed the ice shack. It would have quickly become unbearable without a shack.
Fun day and great company. Nice to finally get out ice fishing this season.

PS -- Ice was at least 6 inches thick and might have been closer to 8 inches thick. About an inch of snow on the ice. No slush.

Thanks for the report Kent. Sounds like a good thing that you had your shelter there. I have had the same experience with the tigers my last 3 ice outings to Scofield. Only one tiger on all 3... wonder where the buggers are hiding.... [fishin]

Thanks for the report, sounds like you did Great. I'm heading up Saturday and wondering if I'll be able to get my fourwheeler on the ice? Is there a lot of snow going down to the lake? Were there any machines on the ice? Thanks again.

Getting a machine on the ice should be no problem. Minimal snow up there. Yes there were machines on the ice.

We were there yesterday with my snowmobile. The ice is plenty thick. We even saw someone with their Razr on the ice. Fishing was steady all day. Chubs were hugging the bottom, while the cutts were coming through in 3-5 feet depths. Most of the cutts were cookie cutters with the biggest being a fat 19 inch cutt. Good luck!

I had to call in sick so I could go to Lake Powell!
