Dad and I went after I got off work Monday morning, to try and get some fishing in before the rains. We made it to the lake about the same time the rain did; well it held off til we at least launched the boat. Then started, off and on, and finally set in for good. Water temps were in the mid 40s. Clarity was murky. Water level didn't seem to be fully at winter pool but was close.

Found lots of bait fish...side imaging would show individual schools of shad 30+ feet long, in some places they would totally blank out the 2D sonar from top to bottom. We didn't stay long; once the rain set in, we left. Wish I could give one of those reports like some of you can where you "didn't fish long, maybe 45 mins and didn't have a good day...only caught 30 instead of 200" kind of reports. But we left with the skunk on the boat. Oh well....at least we all know the ball park of the water temps and that there's plenty of baitfish in the coves. Smile
