Deer creek ice off
#1
I was there for about 3 hr. needed to come home to watch Utah get beat by 1 point. fishing was slow but i did get some.
I was playing with my new i-Pilot Link Minn Kota trolling motor.
The fastest I could get it to go wes 1.5 MPH. (that is not good)
It came with a weedles prop. hope I can Get a better prop.
Its the 24V Terrova 80 60"
next time I go to Deer Creek, I will know how to catch them and what to use
.
here are some snapshots of where the fish are and the temp
I have two Humminbird fishfinders the lines that go up and down show up when both finders are on.
the big yellow lines are the downrigger balls I was using two down riggers.

You should be able to better than 1.5 with that motor assuming your boat is not huge. I run the exact same motor on a 19' lund and can get up to 2.5 with the stock prop.

My first thought is that the 2 downriggers probably create a lot of drag to slow you down. I always use a kicker when I'm downrigging, so I don't know how much effect they have. (And I'm sure you remembered to lift the big motor.) You didn't mention how big or heavy your boat is, since that obviously makes a difference. That's interesting that you can run both sonars at the same time. That doesn't work for me, I have to run one sonar at a time or I get some really funky things happening on the screen. I'm sure someone knows about switching props. I've never even considered doing that, but it might help. You should let us know the results if you do try it.
I like your sonar snapshots too. It's always interesting to see those. I'd guess you have a pretty doggone nice setup. Did the i-Pilot work prodigiously?
Where did you launch? Is the main ramp open? Are there any docks there? I ask because I generally launch alone, and the docks help a lot.

MY boat is a 18ft I/O
I bot the wire off ebay and it was cheap looking wire don't know if that would have any thing to do with it.

I lanched at the state park by the dam. one courtesy dock is in, can lanch from both sides of the dock. I was by my self.

The I piolt is great using it with my 998 HB finder.
LakeMaster map card is not that good for DeerCreek the Contour lines only go out to 48 ft. FG and Strawberry look better for Follow the Contour.
It will take you to a way point are follow a track or rout.

Is there any ice left? That's strange about your motor. I run a 21 foot Triton and I could go 3mph with mine and I had 2 down riggers. Is your boat extra heavy?
