cant see anymore
#1
So, I tried to tie up some small midges the other night at my cabin and ran into a little "Old age" issue... I cant see the small stuff anymore! LOL

I kind of knew that I was having issues when at the local waters trying to tie on smaller fly's to small tippet.

So now I am in the market for something to help me out tying at home and in the field.

Suggestions?

I want something easy to use and mobile.

Hey Pat, I know your pain brotha, besides were in our 90's you know. Lol. They make a clamp on magnified light. This clamps onto a table or wherever and you plug into 110. This has a large magnifying glass that is also lighted to make it easy to see what your wanting to do to the fly in the vise. I'm sure that you could find one on Amazon or around here at savers maybe.

Drugstore reading glasses are cheap and effective. You don't need a prescription to buy them. I have pairs everywhere so I'll always have one handy.

You can also get flip-down magnifiers that clip to the bill of your hat. With them, you don't even need to remove your polarized glasses while tying on flies.

I agree totally. I buy my reading glasses from All A Dollar. But I use my regular reading glasses and a magnifier on my vise. I can still tie #32s
There are also flip ups that go on your sunglasses. I prefer them as I wear more a cowboy type hat. More shade on the head and neck, the better.[Wink]

I would agree with RR. My dad uses a pair of reading glasses, seems to work out fine. When you loose or break a pair its not a hit to your wallet.

I went in for a DOT physical and failed the eye exam. Now I got glasses and the world is crystal again. Didn't know how bad I was.

Sports men warehouse got a magnet for fly fishing that you put on your vest and slide the tippet through the hole of the hook. Helps out a lot especially with small flies.

Prescription glasses would be a good idea as well.
