Last day of spring break for the gkids so I took 'em out to LB for some catin'. Nice. Water temp was steady at 57.5. No carp clusters observed -- thought there might be after TD's last report. Maybe the Loys caught 'em all. Still a little early.
Picked up a few nice cats in front of the springs on shrimp and carp meat. All were 20ish in length but very good looking -- nice green color and pot bellies. Fished 'til noon or so and then left for other commitments.
Dozen or so outfits parked in the parking area -- only a couple with quagga cert displayed?? Looked like most boaters were down by the orchards after walleye. The concession stand/trailer is set up in the parking lot. Menu of grub posted with phone # to call-- $7.00 for a burger combo.... I'll take one if the fishing is hot. Probably won't open until the summer crowds start to appear.
Nice day with a promise of better things to come.

[#0000FF]Good on ya. Hopefully the beginning of a long and productive year.
I heard the DNR is ticketing vehicles without the cert filled out or posted on the dashboard. And you still gotta pay the ticket if you have the online thing but it is not displayed.
That better be a good burger for $7. Like the guy selling pencils on the street corner...for $10 apiece. His buddy told him he wasn't going to sell many at that price. His reply? "I don't HAVE to sell many."

Think you could reach em from shore yet? I have a boatload of kids, but, uh..........no boat. I have TD's maps, but never been to Lincoln in the last 20 years.

[#0000FF]The cats are moving into shallower water. We got them at Lindon on either side of 4.5 feet depth. They should move even shallower off Lincoln Beach. I have caught them in 3' or less by the end of April in years past.
You can find enough depth and good cattin' off the end of the south dike at Lincoln Beach. The outside edge drops off to 5 feet or more within easy casting range...especially if you cast due east toward the mountains. And it is a popular spot for fish to congregate too. However, be prepared to catch a lot more mudders than channels at times.
You can also hike out and fish off the end of the north dike. But it is shallower and snaggy except for right in the channel.
If you go out on the south dike, you have to park near the ramp and hike out. Not too far. When the water level was super high in 2011 it washed out the end of the dike and they put a concrete barrier a short ways out to keep vehicles out. Still haven't fixed the dikes...during the last 3 years of low water.

Nicely done. It's good to get a little practice in before tangling with the hogs. I'm probably going to hit Lindon tomorrow morning. Hopefully it goes well.
