Decided to try something new. Started off at little cottonwood river around 9am and caught brook trout after brook trout.
Then it was off to big cottonwood canyon to try that river. Driving is boring so I threw on the skis and skinned up to get to Cardiff Pass before it became too dangerous to do so.
The skin up (hike) was 1 mile and 1,000 vertical feet.
Along the route Snowbird Ski resort can be seen.
As well as Alta Ski area from the top of Cardiff Pass.
Went by a wet slab avalanche on a hill called Holy Toledo. It was the very same hill I blew my knee on 3 years ago.
Took a break in a safe area to enjoy the views......
...and the brews
In total the ski down was 5 miles over 3,000 vertical feet. The pass is marked with a "T".
By noon I was searching the big cottonwood river for trout on my skis.
There were plenty of follows but only one brown trout came to hand.
