A friend and I decided to give the upper portneuf a try yesterday. I hadn't fished up there in years so didn't know what to expect. Fishing wasn't fast but when we found good holding water there were some fish willing to take nymphs on a dead drift. A few of the browns were quality fish and fought pretty well. The rainbows were a little more sluggish but still mustered a few aerials. Nice day despite the rain in the morning. Water flow is pretty decent and clarity about perfect for fishing right now.
Tight lines,
Cole

Nice looking fish. What general area did you access? I'm wondering if spring muck and mud are an issue with either parking or walking.

Thanks cpierce. We mostly fished the "upper portneuf" access. Waded up and down stream from there. The mud/muck wasn't bad at all. Wading was a bit soft in some places but no issue for driving.

Great! Thanks for the info.
With this warmer weather I think we will be seeing a lot more water coming down soon. I hope to get out a few times before it gets too high.
