saltyduck, CFF Night Tourney, 3rd Place, 6.20, Chris
#1
We started in a place downriver that Chris really wanted to hit before dark. I told him we would start there and give it till 9 because I wanted to be fishing offshore when it got dark. We caught 4 keepers there before dark, flipping brush and docks in 6-10 FOW. Three of them were just 2# keepers and had one 3.7#. As planned right before dark we went deep. Chris had to re-tie because he had broken his jig off in a brush-pile right as we left. Before he even made the 1st cast I had put 4 fish in the boat. One short and 3 that were between 3.0 and 3.8, good enough to cull 2 of our fish and give us right at 10 pounds and it was about 9:45 at this point. We kept catching fish but couldn't seem to catch anything over 3.5# which was our smallest fish. We probably weighed 6 consecutive fish that were over 3 pounds but no over 3.5#.
The bite kind of died for us as we went probably 45 minutes without a bite. I was about to reel in to make another cast when one loaded me up. I thought it was another 3# fish so I boat flipped it and realized it was much better than 3#. Put the scale on it at 5.1#. 3 Casts later caught a 5.0#. Left that spot as I didn't want to catch any more there as I was using this tournament kind of as practice since I knew I wasn't going to be able to fish anymore before the CBA this coming weekend.
Ran around to a number of other spots but couldn't catch anything that would help us.
The CFF scales said our fish weighed 13.71# which was good enough for 3rd.
We caught all of our fish on Shakey Heads. I never picked another rod up all night.

On a side note. This is the first tournament I have fished with my Night Blazer lights, and there is no doubt that I will catch more fish at night because of these lights. I had fish blowing up on shad on the outer edge of the light. Its a great light option for less than $500 as well.
