Bear River
#1
Went out to the Bear yesterday and gave it a try. Fishing was slow until the sun started to go down. Caught 3 small cats and one chunky one. I left before the bugs carried me off. Nice day to get out and enjoy the cool weather, wish that ice would start forming now.

Actually its the biggest fish of the year he would have only needed a pair of 28"ers to tie it. Not that I've been counting numbers or anything. Later J

Couldn't be that I've been looking for a 36.5"er myself. Got to shoot for the moon at this point of the contest. Later J

Really? I caught a couple of them the other night but threw them all back. Is it too late to register?

I don't remember the entry rules, but the contest ends tomorrow so you wouldn't have much time to get the cats and get pictures with tape measures and BFT catfish contest form. John at one time said it was open until a certain number of paid entrants and I don't know if there was a date or just a number. Maybe he will jump in and tell ya if its still open or not. Mighty nice fish though. Are you fishing the Box Elder Bear? Later J

Oh well maybe next time. I will launch my boat in Corrine and go up a couple of miles until I find a good spot. The bite has slowed down since it has got a little cold I think.

I've noticed the bite has really slowed down on Cutler for the last month or so for me as well. If I was catching fish like you just did I wouldn't complain though. Hope to see you in the contest next summer. Later J

Never did have an "ending" date for registration, and never got close the 49 entrant cap. So it's not too late. Print a banner and get a tape. CAT CONTEST
But - as said, time is short. Tomorrow marks the last day for entries to be caught.
I think I'll give it till end of the week before tallying up Jeff's totals. BLK has a new entry too I believe.

Biggest was a mere 32 from gmwahl. BLK kept promising Wels-ian sized goliaths, but we never saw evidence. [#005000]RESULTS/STANDINGS[/#005000]

I haven't totally given up the notion of one last run, if I do I guess I should venture further south. We usually have some toads from the Corinne area, but some of those contestants didn't show up this year.
The South didn't need THAT much more pressure.

I think your purdy ladie's Smile must just draw them in. Better than a lighted bobber and hunk of fresh carp! [cool]

The contest scores based on best 3, and best 5 total for each team. So a single 35 wouldn't take it, but as Jeff points out, that and a couple fair pups could put you on top of the cat-heap.

PM me if you want in, glad to count you on board.
