Homer Alaska lodging advice
#1
Hey all, Just wondering if anyone has taken a fishing trip up near the Homer, AK area and has any good spots they like to use for lodging. We're planning to go sometime mid summer next year and could use some opinions of those who have gone before.

Lands End Hotel has great lodging and great food. Walking distance to the boats and shops.

These were both excellent answers. Thank you!

[#484848]Several years ago, we rented a motor home in Anchorage and drove to Homer. We fished several places along the way, and stayed at the Heritage RV park in Homer. You can also stay at the Fred Meyer store in Soldotna.[/#484848]
[#484848]We had a lot of fun. Buy a Milepost magazine at any good bookstore, before you go.[/#484848]

Personally, I wouldn't stay in Homer. I would stay in Ninilchik, or Anchor point, and make the short drive to Homer. I believe there also charters out of both places for Halibut.
Plus your close to a few rivers to salmon fish.

Good Luck.

It's crazy how they launch the boats at deep creek. We went out with capt lou, what a character.

Alaskan Angler Resort in Ninilchik is part of John Baker's AFISHUNT Charters outfit. They fish Deep Creek for halibut, and the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers for salmon.

I'm with those favoring Ninilchik, Deep Creek or Anchor Point. I've been to the Kenai 4 or 5 times. I've been to Homer only once and that was enough. At least during the Summer when I was there it's just way too touristy for me. Plus you can always drive to Homer from the other locations. After you're done fishing, eating or being a tourist you can then leave. Pretty good rivers to fish as well at the other locales.

The "Mile Post Magazine" is a must! Tons of great info... Fat Olives is the best place to eat in Homer.
