Used to be a pretty fair ice skater so when the kids, grandkids, neighbors and their kids decided to go to the Olympic oval new years day evening, I decided to join them. Dug out my old Canadian Flyer skates I bought at Wolfs Sporting Goods back in Dec. 1959 and joined them. Thirty plus years off skates kinda takes the edge off the ol' skills. I made it about 1/4 the way around the oval when things went ta he--. I knew I was goin' down and was going with it but when my right hip hit the ice OWWW! Broke my right hip ball off. Now I have a bionic titanium implant but ain't gonna get out ice fishing this year.
I've got a helluva lot of good ice fishing stuff I'd be willing to let someone use if they'll agree to take good care of it. Just shoot me a PM.

Sorry to hear about your injury. I feel your pain. Last year I sat out most of the ice season. Injured december 9th, dislocated knee: Blown MCL, Blown Meniscus, and Blown ACL. Surgery in January, and a lot of forced recovery time. Hang in there.

Sent ya a pm Geezer. I've got everything I need but good on you for offering your stuff.
Captainjac, I destroyed my ACL and tore my meniscus this last summer. Surgery July 7th, 2014 and I'm still not 100 percent. I never ever want to do that again

Sorry you are going to miss out on ice fishing this year.
I'm an older fella and thank my lucky stars each year that my knees and the rest of my body allow me to get out ice fishing.
Heal up fast and come back better than ever next year!

[#0000FF]Sorry to hear of your mishap, Tom. Hope you mend quickly and that we are able to get out together on the soft water again this year. And I have been whining about a twisted knee.
It's hell growing old...but considering the alternative...I think I will settle for growing older. Still got lots of fishing to do.

Tom, sure sorry to hear that. Typical of your kindness, that just because you can't take it out that you are willing to lend your ice fishing gear. Get well my friend.

Aw that sucks Tom.
My daughter got married last summer and one of the pictures she had in her slide show at her wedding was one with two White Bass on her hook from our trip to UL..... my only real ice fishing outing ever.
Thanks again for that and speedy recovery!
This was the picture in fact....

As one Geezer to another and to quote a famous movie line, " A man's got to know his limitations " . I had my knee replaced last year and have not tried it out on the ice yet. Gets a little stiff in the cold. Best advice, go to Physical Therapy and work your butt off. The more you do now, the fewer problems you will have down the road. Good luck and fast recovery !!!
