Bashed only two burbot at the cancelled Flaming Gorge Burbot Bash last weekend. Both small. Had a great time, but it was pretty slow. Ice was a healthy 15+ inches at Firehole (way north), which was a relief after all of the previous week's reports and a long drive to get there. Stayed one night then went to Strawberry and caught some nice cuts.

Thanks for the report. Good to hear that someone was able to get a few with the cancelation.

I definitely got bashed by those fish too. Only caught 5 out of the 2 nights fished. Brutal fishing.

Where were you fishing? We fished the confluence both nights and only caught a few between the two of us. Wish I could find them up there.

Me and three buddies got 28 on Friday out of a boat. I think the problem up north is how many people have already fished it. There was only six or seven boats at Lucerne and any point around there will hold burbot. We got two drunk to go out Saturday though.

A few of us went up to partake of some bashing even though the event had been cancelled. We were below Firehole and ice was plenty thick 12+ or so and drove our wheelers on with no problems. We ended up with about 30 of them over 2 nights. Another friend of mine and his group were above Firehole and they ended up putting about 120+ on the ice! It really just depends on where you're fishing and where the burbot decide to congregate. Also, they can be very picky with what they bite. Sometimes they'll bite anything you put in front of them and other times you'll have 20 fish below you and they won't touch a thing. The spot we were fishing has had 50+ fish nights, but not this time. These fish by far are some of the hardest to figure out. We're heading back up this next weekend to try and find them again.

I was at Firehole. We kinda thought part of it was because it has been getting a lot of fishing pressure. I missed a lot of bites too, I'm thinking they were just little ones and I couldn't hook em.
