Willard, not all wasted today
#1
Was in the boat prep line with another BFT member. Couple nice fellas with a really nice Tracker Targa. Now I know they gave me their BFT screen name, but that was over 7 hours ago, I'm really sorry guys, I don't remember it. I hope you had better luck catching fish than I did catching your name, or catching fish for that matter. I zig-zagged to the west wall, turned south, ran slow S-turns down almost to the light pole, moved across the Openness to Freeway Bay. I used a different lure every 30 min. on 2 poles, and ran between 1.3 and 1.8 mph (GPS). (Yep, used both of my Fire Tigers) No joy. Parked it at Freeway Bay, washed a couple worms about 45 min. Nothing. Moved back north making big S- turns up the middle, again changing lures and varying speed. Nada. Parked in a couple places outside the north marina that are usually good bets for at least some Kitties. Nope, just drowned the worms.
About 1:45 PM a boat with a BFTer and 2 young boys went past me heading in to the marina. Well I was just about packed up anyway, so I called it a day also. Met the fella with the 2 boys on the ramp, and this time it's only been 2 hours, so I remembered "Zataran" now, forgive me if I mis spelled that. Read many of your posts, and was good to put a hand shake and a face to it.
Now, lest you think my day was wasted....Nay, Nay, no day on the water is wasted. This one especially. I met some BFT members, and got to do an "ops check" of the brand new PFD Life Jacket I bought yesterday. No, I didn't fall overboard with it on, but it slid up the back of my seat the first time I stood up, and it went for and unscheduled swim. Now, why was I relieved to see it FLOATING ? Isn't that what is was designed to do? Well I scooped it up, and hung in on the back of my unused seat to dry.

Tin Can,
Don't worry about the name, I am a pretty unforgettable type of guy, unlike my boat obviously. [Wink] In an attempt to make you feel better, check out the pic below to see what I caught on a harness and night crawler. I was seriously freaked out hoping there wasn't a foot inside. We only had on other strike on a Maniac Minnow at the beach. Funny how we kinda had the same game plan and came up with the same results. This trip was important though. Trying to get Jr up to speed on taking the boat out by himself. A couple more times and that boat might actually get used equivalent to its value.

I hear that fillet of sole can be very good when smoked.
I'll let you try it and report back. LOL.

Can't wait to get my new to me boat on the water after taking it to Lee's Marine for a general tuneup and voltage regulator replacement.

Shameless plug for Lee's Marine!

Tin-Can it was great meeting you as I was loading up. Sounds like willard wasn't nice to anyone today! I guess a shoe is better than nothing though. I hope Whit210 was practicing c&r I would like a shot at that shoe when it has grown a few more sizes...

Was that a size 10? My son lost one last year. But I'm sure he won't want it back. Hey, best thing I hooked up was a big piece of stick down in Freeway Bay. [:/]

I will do my best now that I have seen it in print, to remember your screen name.

And that is a good lookin boat
